I sporadically got back into reading while my husband was deployed. I needed something to keep me busy and stumbled upon a book that was recommended by a fellow instagrammer. And once I started this one book, I read another and another…I couldn’t stop! As a child and as a young adult, I loved to read! But after having my first child, I ended up having post partum depression and had lost interest in not just reading but everything I once loved. I’m just so happy I was (FINALLY) able to get back into reading! I’ve missed it so much!! If you follow me on insta or goodreads, you’ll know that I set myself a goal of reading 25 books in the year of 2022. And I surprisingly reached that goal!
Can’t wait to read some more amazing books in 2023!
Here are my top 5 favorite books/series
that I’ve read this year!
1. A Court of Thorns and Roses (Series) by Sarah J Maas
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Now, I haven’t finished the series yet BUT I am on the last book. And all I can say is…ITS AMAZING. Its chocked full of action and adventure with a love story thrown in there. This is my favorite series that I’ve read since Harry Potter. HIGHLY RECCOMEND. Read it. Now.
2. Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you’re into Harry Potter or magical beings, then this book is for you. And any book with a strong female lead is for me! This was a quick read for me and honestly cannot wait to finish the sequel! SUCH AMAZING WRITING!
3. The Inheritcance Games (Series) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The game is afoot and it doesn’t stop! This is a fun mystery that was highly recommended by a friend. I just finished the series and it had such a great ending! This series kept me on my toes CONSTANTLY.
4. The Bridgerton (Series) by Julia Quinn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know there was a series until after I had seen the tv show. And wow, I’d say these are some of the best books I’ve ever read. The tv show definitely doesn’t do it justice. Lots of wit, humor, and love! I’ll always recommend this series!
5. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I honestly didn’t think I’d like this book as much as I did! It’s written in documentary form, so it’s a really easy read from several points of view. It’s a quick, interesting, and full of umph kind of read!
———Honorable mentions go to:
It Ends With Us & It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In my opinion, the BEST Colleen Hoover books to ever exist. It was a beautiful start and end. I’ve noticed that all CoHo books are written in the same format and I’m not the biggest fan of it. Which is why I have chosen not to read anymore of her books. It Ends With Us was the first CoHo book I read and It Starts With Us was the last.
Long Live The Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve always been a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan and knew I had to read this when it came out! It was so good and really pulled all the strings together. It had an ending I wasn’t expecting, which is why I only rated it a 4.
